After discussing what Kirsty and Andrew had in mind for their wedding day they decided a “first look” would help make the most of the timing of their day and also keep the relaxed and fun day they had in mind.
Their “first look” took place at one of my favourite wedding photography locations on the Mornington Peninsula – the tree lined foreshore path in Rye. I’ve done quite a few “first look” weddings this wedding season. I’m always happy to give positives and negatives about it in relation to a couples wedding day always considering their timing, venue, style of wedding and ideas.
After a few happy tears and some big hugs and smiles we walked along the path and took some photos underneath this lovely tree lined path as well as the beach.
After a second quick stop at the Ocean Beach at Sorrento we then headed to All Smiles to get ready for their ceremony. Paul was their celebrant who used to be a stand up comedian so it had a blend of humour which suited Kirsty and Andrew perfectly as they are a fun couple always laughing.
After their ceremony the rain came, so we were very lucky that we did their first look and most of their wedding photos beforehand. We did some family photos inside and some outside – as we made use of outdoors when the rain briefly stopped.
They celebrated with their guests for a while and then we quickly popped down on the beach for some sunset photos. We had previously made sure that the timing for the speeches and formalities gave us some free time during sunset.
Bright pinks and oranges at sunset was an absolute delight and we definitely made the most of it. I absolutely love some WOW low light wedding photography so I had a great time capturing some wonderful moments.
