Monday 23rd December was this lovely couples wedding date. With all their family and friends (except for 8!) coming interstate or overseas to be at their special day it was a wonderful celebration with everyone together!
They got married at St Mary Star of the Sea which is a Catholic Church in Sorrento. With G and A both originally from Zimbabwe they had Zimbabwean singers in the church that played songs and drums throughout their ceremony. It sounded absolutely amazing.
We got some amazing photos at the beach after their ceremony – especially with this super amazingly long wedding dress! She got changed into a fitted white dress for the second lot of photos and reception.
We also took the immediate family photos at the beach. Whilst I don’t usually advise taking family photos in a different location it was so special and symbolic as the grooms mum had not been to a beach before. It was wonderful seeing their family from overseas enjoy their feet on the sand and in the water!
G and A didn’t realise my love for Africa until they first met with me. I was so grateful to be their photographer and learn the Zimbabwe wedding traditions and be a part of such a special occasion and celebration. I was missing Africa as I was flying back to Ethiopia only a week after this wedding day. So it felt so wonderful to be surrounded by such wonderful people, traditions and music.
I loved their dress changes too! The girls had traditional dresses for the ceremony and beach photos and then got changed into formal dresses for the venue photos and reception.
The staff at Mercure Portsea are always so lovely and it is always a pleasure to work alongside them.
I’m respecting their wishes and choosing to only show a glimpse of a sneak peak into their amazing day.
